Volunteers can show up at any site listed below any Saturday at 8:00am.
We typically work from 8:00am until 1:00pm on Saturdays. Sometimes longer
if we have a motivated group of workers! Both jobs will have construction supervisors present. Individuals don't need to call ahead, but for groups of 5 or more, please call 864-878-6374 phone or email in advance, to be sure that we have adequate work for all. Any group wishing to work during the week should also call so we can make arrangements for supervision. Volunteers don't have to bring anything, but basic hand tools are helpful if they have them. | |||||

116 Quail Circle Central, SC Work Schedule: Starting Saturday, December 5, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8:30 til 12:30, except Saturday, December 26. Directions: From downtown Central, - travel on Highway 93 toward Liberty, approximately 2.1 miles. Turn right onto Earle Road (this is just before a convenience store in the fork of the road. If you get to the convenience store, you have gone too far.) Once on Earle Road, travel approximately .7 miles, then turn right onto Quail Circle. Our Habitat job site will be on the right. The house has light blue siding and a decorative front door. From Easley/Pickens area - Travel on Highway 93 through Liberty, continuing on through Norris. As you approach Central, see JR's Convenience Store on left. Shortly after passing store, turn left onto Earle Road. (If you pass Southern Wesleyan University, you have missed Earle Road.) Once on Earle Road, travel approximately .7 miles, then turn right onto Quail Circle. Habitat job site will be on the right. The house has light blue siding and a decorative front door. Directions: From Central or Clemson - Travel on Highway 93 toward Liberty. At the intersection of Highway 93 and Highway 178 in Liberty, turn right, onto Highway 178. See Pancho’s Mexican restaurant on your left, then cross Railroad Tracks. Once you have crossed Railroad Tracks, immediately turn hard right onto Park Plaza, then make immediate hard left onto Lee Street. Directions: From downtown Liberty - take Hwy 178 toward Hwy 123. Cross the RR tracks and take the first hard right, immediately after crossing the tracks. Wind around curve by ball field to Stop sign. At Stop sign, turn right onto Mills Avenue and go a few blocks to Norris Street. Turn left onto Norris Street and take the next right turn onto Willard Street. Joy Street is straight ahead on the right, in the curve. Joy Street is a dead end lane. Every day Habitat for Humanity is working with families in Pickens County and we need your skills! Please consider donating your time - no one is too old or too inexperienced to volunteer.
Listed below are just a few of the areas where we need immediate help.
DATABASE TRACKING: detail person to keep track of volunteers, inventory, costs, property PROPERTY ACQUISITION: find & acquire suitable Pickens County properties for new homeowners. We urgently need a volunteer for Clemson/Central/Norris and one for Liberty/Pickens. PUBLICITY: writers and photographers to help keep our mission and progress before the public. COORDINATE VOLUNTEERS: coordinate Collegiate Challenge volunteers who come from all over the US to work with us over their Spring Break MAILINGS: help prepare newsletters and other distributional info for churches, civic groups, and volunteers. Please help us spread the word by printing out one of these flyers and posting in your church or workplace. The critical needs will be updated on a regular basis as the needs change, so check back often! These are just a few of the opportunities for service available. The Family Selection Committee distributes and considers applications from families who would like to own a Habitat home. The Family Support Committee matches Habitat families with mentors to assist during their first few years as homeowners, conducts homeowner education courses and publishes a quarterly homeowner newsletter. The Property Committee identifies and acquires suitable property on which to build. The Construction Committee plans construction and coordinates labor, materials, and the interests of the family. The Church Relations Committee strengthens the participation of area churches by offering specific ways for congregations to be involved. The Fund Raising Committee generates income for Habitat's projects. The Volunteer Committee recruits and organizes individuals and groups to work on Habitat projects. Pray intentionally and specifically for the work of Habitat. Invite a Habitat spokesperson to present a program to your members. Teach Habitat Vacation Bible School Curriculum in your church. Write the prayers and good wishes of your congregation on 2x4s to be used in a Habitat house. Host a "Pass the Hardhat" day during which a special offering is collected for Habitat. Volunteer to work at a local Habitat worksite. Recruit a volunteer team to work on a job site weekly or monthly. Mentor a specific Habitat family through the challenges of homeownership. Challenge your youth group to landscape a Habitat lawn. Cook lunches for volunteers during workdays. Sponsor a church-wide fund raising event to benefit Habitat. Donate needed materials and/or services for a Habitat house. Fund a specific portion of a Habitat house. Budget Pickens County Habitat in your annual giving. Covenant with PCHFH to partially or fully sponsor a Habitat house. |
